Overview
SLAMDAM uses reusable rubber barriers filled with water to hold back floods and protect crops, infrastructure and other assets. The same barriers also store water for use during droughts, supporting farming through wet and dry seasons.
Piloted in Bubanza, the low-cost, mobile system offers an option for communities unable to afford permanent flood defences. Its simple design and ease of deployment and maintenance make it suitable for replication in other vulnerable areas.
