Overview
Weather and water observations are collected through SMS and WhatsApp, making it easier to gather data from remote areas. Cloud computing and AI help organise, process and analyse these records, which feed into Malawi’s existing meteorological and hydrological systems.
Training equips users and administrators to operate the technology, while a proposed financing mechanism aims to sustain it. Better observations support forecasting, flood warnings, agricultural planning and water management.
