Overview

Solar-powered irrigation uses renewable electricity to supply water to crops, while sensors and satellite observations support irrigation planning. The project evaluates suitable technologies for Guatemala’s Dry Corridor and develops business models and policy recommendations to support wider adoption.

Training in water management and sustainable farming helps smallholders, particularly women, use irrigation efficiently, with the aim of protecting harvests during prolonged dry periods and strengthening food security.
